    Try #2 for exhaust, friday

I got a guy whos gonna do my exhaust, he said at most its going to be $600, but I already have most of the hard work done so it shouldnt be that high. We changed plans though, instead of dual 2.5" pipes im going to run one 3" pipe. He said the auctual area isnt that much smaller and it will be a lot easier to squeeze under the car, cheaper too.

Going in friday, if all goes well hes going to have it done friday night.

Single 3" sounds good, but sweet Jesus, $600 is WAYYY high.

Ive been to every shop in town, $600 is like the going rate. I dont really have another choice right now :(

I could order the parts, cut them myself, pay someone to weld them (like I did for my midpipes) but that would be a lot of work and I probably would only end up saving $200 or so. I really just want my car done :)

that's why I laugh when people say custom exhausts are always cheaper than off the shelf.. just the downpipe from my headers to the cat cost $600 (places around here don't like working on BMWs). :(

Yeah same here, unfortunatly, they dont make an off the shelf for me :(

I just dropped the car off, I am a bit dissappointed in thier muffler selection. They only have single in single out with big ass ugly tips bleh!

But the guys gonna get it up on a lift and take a look at it, and we will decide from there. I may just use the D/D 2.5 magnaflow I have, just stick another Y on the end for 3" to dual 2.5

Definitely post some pics of the finished product.

It really suprises me that no one has stepped up to sell a center section for e30/m50s, consider how popular they are.

I want to know what they plan to do with the small ground clearance area under the trailing arm.

I believe that may be a reason why BMW used two pipes to begin with, because they had to crimp the pipes where it hangs right at the trailing arm.

My 3" downpipe slides in between the engine bay and the bottom of the car with no problem. I can even retain the headshields for the motor mounts and whatnot.

im talking about at the trailing arm in the back of the car.

it's already the lowest point on the car. (speed bumps, lane reflectors, t-shirts, starbucks cups, etc.)

Making it bigger is gonna make the lowest point on the car even lower.

Yeah I was wondering about that too. The m20's dual pipe exhaust is actually semi-CRUSHED at that point just to try and make it a little higher than it would hang other wise. A single 3" in there nice and round will get uncomfortably close to the ground if the car is lowered at all.
