Cheap Muffler to fix PO's Work

    *Cliff Note*
Suggest a cheap muffler with a single inlet the diameter of an m20b25 catback pipe.

    *Story*
As you can see from this picture, the PO had one of the pipes welded into the other so that a straight pipe goes into the muffler. Also, one of the clamps to the catback failed and the exhaust shop replaced the flange with a straight pipe.

The muffler is a complete POS and rusting out like crazy all over the inlet and outlet. So far I've welded it about 5 times, but it looks like I'm out of material to weld to. (This is after the first weld)

So I need to get a new muffler so that I get rid of my exhaust leak and the car will be legal again. First of all, what is the inner diameter of a single pipe on a stock m20 exhaust? Second, when it comes to the super cheap (less than $50) mufflers, is there any difference in brand? (ie. Trush vs. Dynomax vs. Flowtech etc.)

any suggestions for a decent sounding muffler, or are they all the same at this price point? is it worth spending an extra few dollars for a magnaflow? Keep in mind, I plan to go s5x in the next few years so I'll need a new exhaust system and I don't see a point in spending a lot now that will be useless later.

    Thanks!
