My OEM muffler had a huge hole in the bottom so I bought a replacement from CARiD.com (Ansa model W0133-1662871) and took it to a local muffler shop for installation. The shop quoted me $120 in labor and I said that was fine so long as it was framed nicely in the exhaust body panel. The guy said not to worry and that he would take care of it.
Te shop installed the new muffler in about 30 minutes and when I took a look at the finished product the tips looked off to the right and a little low. I asked the guy if he could do anything to frame it better and he said the part was not an exact fit and asked if I bought it online. I told the guy that I would return the part if it wasn't right and he said that the only way to get it centered is by cutting the pipe. It's not a huge deal but having paid $120 and being told it would be framed up nicely I am less than ecstatic about the job. It doesn't look terrible but it also doesn't look great.
Am I being too nit picky and is he correct, or should I take a trip back to the shop? I went to a muffler shop specifically so they would do a clean install.
