New exhaust keeps cracking

I bought a Bosal OEM muffler from a reputable BMW shop in NH a few months ago. Had it installed and within a month it started to crack and within a day or two the piping actually broke in half.

The shop I bought it from swapped it with a new one under warranty but now a month and a half later this one is cracked in the same spot.

I havn't called the shop yet, I plan on doing that later today but I don't know that I want a third one for fear that it will do the same thing. Plus the shop is a two hour drive each way and I've already been there twice.

Is it cracking at the welds? Is the exhaust hung with rubber hangers? If the muffler itself is cracking on it, I'd ask for a comprable brand replacement, but if it's cracking on the welds, it's some crappy welding, or the exhaust is hung at a bad angle that is making it stress the joints. But a good weld should be as strong or stronger than the metal itself. Got any pics?

I finally got around to calling the vendor that sold me the muffler. They are not willing to swap the muffler out for a new one as easily as last time. They suspect its a bad motor or tranny mount causing stress on the muffler. I'm going to try and take some pics soon.

Damn, thats fucked up! Definitely check your hangers and mounts...
