No worries, I should have made it clearer earlier that its not my opinion, just someones i respect. I can only MIG, haven't used TIG yet.
Try MIG and TIG experiment with different metals, esp SS and alloy, just weld up a T piece or something like that and also check which has worse distortion.
Re above comments about TIG, I'm well aware that you have heat control and can put it where you want it. Also, the term ;general area; was probably the wrong one to use, I meant instead of arcing through the wire you have to heat the area before you can weld. again, thats all I've been told so can't really discuss it any more.
Shouldn't matter, you can TIG any metal and also MIG alloy.
