Cutting off the ends of dtm style muffler

Has anyone had experience with cutting of the ends of their dtm style exhaust. If so how did you do about it. I dont like the look anymore plus they are kinda bent. i dont really want to spend money on a new one. thanks.

Go to a muffler shop that sells tips. Have them cut yours off and weld on some new ones that you like.

    Done.

Or, just buy a whole new muffler if you find a good enough price on one. You can just resell yours.

I was thinking of just cutting the end tips off. the part that flares up on the dtm tips. not the whole tip. is this possible without messing anything up or do you have to cut off the whole tip?

Saws-all. My buddy did it for his honda. Didn't look bad.

Use a grinder with a metal cut off wheel. Or a saws-all. File the burrs off when you are done cutting.

Cool. Got any side shots? Which exhaust is it? How'd you end up doing it?

Picking one up tomorrow and might do the same thing.

I just had a muffler place do it but im sure you could just do it yourself if you have a sawzall or band saw. do you have it on the car yet? it would probably be easier off the car.

here is a side shot...i dunno how well you can see it though.

Cool. Not on the car yet. Band saw is probably the best way to do it, I'm thinking.

I need to do this, but I'm afraid of it chipping the chrome off and rusting. I was thinking wrap it in tape and use a band saw.
