    t04e on an i?

    Anybody using one? Feedback?

I may be coming across an 88 i for a real good deal and have a spare turbo from another one of my builds...

    Thanks,

if your not looking for anything too ridiculous it should be a pretty good turbo.

        .68 a/r exh, .50 a/r cold, 46 trim

Calcing the air consumption puts me in the map, but I am looking for input from someone who used one. I have installed various trims of the t04e on a few different cars, and I'm expecting this turbo will probably be able to see in the 10psi range by 2500rpm, start choking at 6500-7000rpm or earlier, but would like confirmation :)

Thanks for the input so far...

I had a 60-1 E cover. It was perfect for my M20. Only thing different was I had the T3 rear with P trim wheel on a 63 housing.

Your 68 housing will flow well, maybe not the best if you are looking for modest power. Might want to get something smaller.

Really? It's going to lag a bit more tan I am anticipating? The t3 .63ar is actually small for my original 3.1 iron head v6 I had it mounted to (poor flowing heads, 6000 limiter). I put one on a 3.4 v6 with high flowing aluminum heads and it could see 15psi easily by 2500-3krpm.

I am now putting a pair of them on the Firebird with a 3.4 and the high flowing aluminum heads ported even further...

Still have a lot to do to get the new motor in. 1000hp Aeromotive fuel pump, 1/2" fuel lines, one WG isn't welded to the header (headers getting ceramic coating in my new coating rig), down pipes, 3 BAR MAP, pin swap to use the modified Syclone/Typhoon code mask on the OBD1, and still need to buy/install the W2A I/C with cold side.

Already installed a nice rear (7.625" Borg Werner 3.45 w/disk), 3" exhaust, guages from the 1st turbo are there, WB there etc...Also have 11" draglies, and am going to be doing some supension work to get it to launch a little better (best of a 2.1 60' :()

That's a crazy single turbo setup.

Yeah. That's the simple way to turbo the f-body, go under the frame where the a-arm meets it. Lost about .25-.5" of clearance that way though haha.

The new air to water i/c will sit where the old turbo was. I dropped the power steering in favor of a turbo and manual steering box on that side so I could keep A/C (get's hot here in Fl).

I see faulty cylinderheads. Looks like the machinist inadvertently filled and machined the #6 exhaust port.

HUH? I am the machinist;) Fact, I'm working in my CNC shop as I'm playing on the netz...

SBC joke. I forgot to add required smilie. Should have claimed there seems to be two cylinders missing I guess.

                              ah.

                              Fastest 3rd gen f-body was a 3.8 turbo ;)
