you can get a ticket for having headers in cali. or even any light bulbs that are not stock. even if they give better lighting. and if you pissed off a cop enough you could prob get a ticket for your car being lower than stock heightLast edited by CHIF8008; 12-05-2010, 09:01 PM.Leave a comment:

i read somewhere on an m42 turbo build this kid did with his father.
what they did was ran piping all the way the exhaust and had the turbo back there.
looked really clean and super discrete.
if i can find it again, ill post up.Leave a comment:

Wait. California does not allow mods like this? Or why the hiding from the cops?Leave a comment:

Cali is the worst when it comes to emissions but its not the worst as far as inspections. I'm so glad we don't have those like they have on the east coast.Leave a comment:

I couldnt even imagine such a thing! Who the fuck is passing these laws? You have more freedom in siberia than you do in communist America.
you from cali?Leave a comment:

Most cops aren't trained to know what a 25yo BMW engine bay looks like. Most cops wouldn't know if our cars came turbo or not.
Emissions ref's is a different story....they have "references" to compare with your car, and at the end of that road, cops are waiting.
Ref ticket is a fix it ticket for having illegally modified parts on your engine. No carb sticker, not stock. Cop pops your hood, sees an "ricer intake" or "colorful engine parts" and deems your engine modified, you get a ticket, like an modified exhaust ticket, where you have to go to an emissions referee (CHP, or courthouse ref) and get checked.
Hiding the turbo to make it less conspicuous will only work as far as not getting the ticket, assuming the cop is clueless about our cars.
If the cop doesn't see it, you don't go snowballing down the hill full of court-related shit.
Oh, and the aesthetics of sleeper turbo kits...very attractive.Leave a comment:

Huh? What the hell is a ref ticket?? Do you live in russia?
What do you mean like a bottom mount? or those cooky people who mount a tubro like where there cats are or near there rear muffler?
You want to hide a turbo? Paint your intercooler black, cut up your stock airbox to run your intak through it. Paint your intercooler piping same color as your car. Turbo manifold black. Get yourself a bypass valve.
I mean you cant really hide it unless you make a sheet metal box around it and write NO TURBO HERE GO AWAY on the outside or something. If someone looks hard or listens to the car there gunan know, espiecally by how fast your going. Im guessing this is just for sleeper effect correct??Leave a comment:

I'm behind on that stuff. I think i'm gonnah end up going the china route for the next run. It will lower the price to about $60 shipped. I don't think the e30 crowd really cares where they are made as long as they fit and are cheap.Leave a comment:

Do you have an M21 manifold!!?
I need a style 4 or 5 Silicone M20 Intake Boot from you as well...Leave a comment:

I didn't use the m21 intake manifold. It says "TURBO" on it. I will build one some day though. I actually have a couple OEM+ manifold ideas i'm going to follow up on. The one that will end up on my car is bananas.Leave a comment:
