hidden turbo?

Most cops aren't trained to know what a 25yo BMW engine bay looks like. Most cops wouldn't know if our cars came turbo or not.
Emissions ref's is a different story....they have "references" to compare with your car, and at the end of that road, cops are waiting.
Ref ticket is a fix it ticket for having illegally modified parts on your engine. No carb sticker, not stock. Cop pops your hood, sees an "ricer intake" or "colorful engine parts" and deems your engine modified, you get a ticket, like an modified exhaust ticket, where you have to go to an emissions referee (CHP, or courthouse ref) and get checked.
Hiding the turbo to make it less conspicuous will only work as far as not getting the ticket, assuming the cop is clueless about our cars.
If the cop doesn't see it, you don't go snowballing down the hill full of court-related shit.
Oh, and the aesthetics of sleeper turbo kits...very attractive.Comment

you from cali?Comment

Cali is the worst when it comes to emissions but its not the worst as far as inspections. I'm so glad we don't have those like they have on the east coast.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

you can get a ticket for having headers in cali. or even any light bulbs that are not stock. even if they give better lighting. and if you pissed off a cop enough you could prob get a ticket for your car being lower than stock heightLast edited by CHIF8008; 12-05-2010, 09:01 PM.-FREEDOM- is cruisin at 80, windows down and listening to the perfect song-thinking "this is it"

Glad to see money is hard at work protecting the fine citizens... turbos, exhausts, lights..Comment

Can you flip a top mount turbo manifold, the squirrely ones off ebay to make it a bottom mount??
Or will it rub?Comment

I would imagine that if you did that the turbo would be facing backwards, and if you get past that part, it would be smashed into your strut towerComment

I used to work at a chevy dealer when I was in school, and we had a vette with twin turbo's mounted in the rear. Thing sounded sooo sick, it had no muffler's the turbo's were like the muffler's. I always thought it was a cool idea. Here's the link to the company that did the work. http://www.ststurbo.com/Comment

yep sts turbo system is the way to go if you had the money. Engine temp will be reduced, cleaner install and the sound it makes is crazy!!! Sounds like a dozen squirrels driving a fighter jet.Comment
