Sounds good, yea just run straight E85, I can post up my timing map if you want.
What crank are you using?
is anyone running E85 on their boosted cars?

I am going to run MSII v3.0 with wasted spark using the GM coil packs. I am looking at the plug and play kit which is micro squirt based (I am pretty sure that it runs the v3.0 now) and can run either sequential or batch fire on the injectors.
I was going to inject straight methanol using a pressure sensor as a trigger for the MS to turn on a alcohol friendly pump. Now if I go with the E85, I will ditch that (since it will redundant) and just change the fuel mapping to do the same thing.Leave a comment:

GregCool Otis! I was hoping to be in he neighborhood of 450hp/420tq on pump gas with the 3.2 running 17psi. I would like to stay with the same specs ( or a slightly higher static comp) and just run the E85 and see if I can make more power in the tune with an added safety of the higher octane and better burning E85.
You are running MegaSquirt right?
You deff can run higher compression with the E85, there's a few turbo'd 24V cars running high compression with it. A 3.2 M20 should put out a ton of torque.
Running MegasquirtII V3.0 w/EDIS, what are you going to run for engine management?Leave a comment:

Been running E85 for 2 years now on the M30 and love the stuff.
The advantages for boosted engines are:
More power w/less boost
Run more timing
Engine runs cooler
Oil stays cleaner
Exhaust does not stink
As far as fuel lines, I still am using the original tank to pump hose, the rest I replaced since I am running two bosch 044's.
One pump is good for around 430rwhp.
Main thing is larger injectors and enough fuel pump.Leave a comment:

the guy you really want to talk to is ixer on e30tech. he's building a 2.8 liter with 11:1cr to run it on E85 with a schrick 304, N/A at first, and boost later. He's in sweden were E85 is everywhere so there's a lot more common knowledge about it.Leave a comment:

I wanna say Tchao on azbmw.org talked of running an e85 tune, not sure what his screen name is on e30 or r3v, but I know he's talked about it.Leave a comment:

A couple of my friends are running E85 on their boosted (high boost, high static compression) with some impressive results.
I am building a 3.2 M20 with a ported 3rd gen GM M90 blower, liquid to air intercooler, 17 psi max boost, blowing through dbilas ITB's (the throttle shafts will hold 25 psi without leaking) plus a large pile of other parts.
I have not ordered the pistons yet, and we were talking. I am wanting to run 9.5:1 static and after some brain storming I was thinking I could get away with 10:1 or 10.5:1 VERY safely running E85.
Here is a little info on E85.........
it is the equivalent of running C116 race gas for a fraction of the cost. Right now the average cost of E85 is $2.35 a gallon. Super unleaded is $3.09 and up and only 91octane.
You need to run 30% more injector with E85 over gas because it is physically larger than gas.
You will loose about 1/3 of your range because it is bigger, but you will gain efficient from the cleaner more complete burn. So it is almost a wash.
Almost no tailpipe emissions because of the clean burning nature of E85.
There are enough people running it now that the fears that it would dissolve all rubber parts are not a concern like was initially thought.
With an E30, you can run a pair of walburo 255lph pumps (1internal, 1inline ) and have more then enough flow and pressure.
Significantly lower engine temps because of the cooler burn of the alcohol.
Anyways, I am very seriously concidering doing this and we were looking and what would have to be replaced to make it work. I was just wondering if anyone had tried it yet.Tags: None
