Small turbo recommendations

I have a '91 325is, and I'm planing a low boost (8-10psi) setup with hp goals of 250-300max.
I wanted to do hpde and auto-x events so maybe something that has a quick spool-up also...

Price is also a factor (wanna keep total cost sub $3k~)

Thoughts?

i'd focus on efficiency over size. the problem with small turbos is they act like an exhaust restriction, so you get some intial power, and then it chokes.

T3 turbo could work but like everyone says its not gonna have much top end power and which how Einstein funnily put it as Volvo performance
