    Haltech Installation - Help

    Hey Guys,

Have just installed a Haltech sprint 500 in my E30 m42.
Its all wired in and have spark and injector pulse, but car doesnt seem to want to start. The motronic ecu is still installed and have only intercepted the wires i needed i.e crank/cam angle sensors, temps, ignition, injectors, etc. Things such as speedo, alternator, ac, and other non engine related things are still run through the motronic ecu.

I think at this point my problems lie with the configuration within the ecu settings for the crank/cam angle sensors

    or

I have miss wired somthing, although once again im thinking it is still angle sensor related as I have good spark and injection.

In the trigger menu there are a number of selections including some motronic options such as, 60 -2 +1 home, 60 - 4, 36 -2 +1. Dont know what these mean?

Can anyone give me info on the sensors for the m42?

    Thanks

the trigger selection is for the different trigger wheels that would be on the crank. if you google 60-2 or 36-1 you should see the different wheels. I think that most motronic BMWs will use the 60-2 wheel, that's what the M20s use at least. I am unsure about the M42.

Do you have spark? In order to have spark you have to have timing.

      m42's also use 60-2 wheels.

Yes your trigger wheel for the crank is 60-2. I dont know the angle offset for TDC though. I am currently at the same spot for my M42 standalone install.

When I get my config set up I will share.

There are 2 pick ups, 1 for the crank angle and the other for the cam angle so the ecu can reference which stroke its on (correct ?). So would i be right in thinking the correct setting for a m42 should be 60 -2 +1 (ie +1 for the cam angle sensor)

Did you figure this out ? I am in the process of installing a platinum sport 1000 and I am trying to figure out all of the basics set up

Do you mind sharing this info with me ?

No... still no luck as yet, what about you wazzu? Have you had any success?

Im fairly confident the trigger angle is 122 and 100% sure wiring is correct
I just need to determine the tooth offfset

Does anyone have a base tune for a m42? dont care if its NA/Turbo just want to look at the basic setup. Once i have the car running i will have the car dyno tuned

i just bought an E30 323i and it's got a freshly installed sprint 500. here's a link to a thread the guy installing the ECU started. i'm currently in the US, but will be picking it up in a few weeks. i'm actually a geelong local as it happens...

btw, mine has just been tuned with the sprint 500, ford TB, AU wasted spark and XR6T injectors. apparently the VE tuning is a good thing!

                        Hello everyone,

What happened finally? does anyone have a basic map for this car ? I will be installing a platinum sport 1000 on my car this week

A basic map would help tremendously as well as having the basic setup parameters

                        HELP please
