    OBX turbo adapter

I haven't seen many threads on the OBX adapter... mostly just the CX racing manifold. Just trying to get some thoughts on what you guys think about the OBX adapter. Looks to be similar to the revshift adapter.. and at least $100 cheaper, and there is no wait time it seems.

I will admit I have the OBX long tube headers and they are surprisingly nice.

I don't want to hear any of the 'revshift is better you suck for buying ebay' etc. I know revshift is better. Just seeing what else is out there...

I did a lot of searching on this adapter a while back. There is not much info out there. But I did find this thread with the owner saying that it needs a bit of fiddling to get it to fit. I can't find this thread anymore.
I say give it a shot. There are a lot of guys out there that gave the CX manifold a try and that looks much worse than this obx adapter. How bad could it be its just an adapter.

do you recall what kind of fiddling it needed? I agree that the CX manifold looks worse... this one has no universal turbo flange B.S.

My buddy is building up an m50 turbo on an OBX manifold and hasnt had anything bad to say about it and he plans on running 450whp

Nice. I have their long tube M20 headers and I am actually impressed. OBX seems to be in the upper tier of 'crappy ebay quality' stuff

I've heard good things about there e36 m42 turbo manifolds also. Maybe I must have read wrong because going by the latest reviews they seem to be not bad at all.
I did I bit more searching and there was one for sale on this forum a few years ago where the owner raved about how thick the steel was.
And there was another thread on e30tech complaining how it copied John Volks 666 adapter design. Nothing about it being bad quality though.

I think it's good if it copies John's adapter, no? I would think that means it should fit with no problem. I will buy one within a week or two and post it up :)

hm... well welding on the 38mm flange was unnecessary since you can buy adapters for like $20. I will look into it more I guess.. now the $240 price tag is looking a little steep lol

OBX is one of the better Chinese brands out there. They actually TIG weld the manifolds together, and look half decent. They usually fit a lot better too.

CX manifolds are all MIG welded with a fake TIG bead thrown on top just to make it look tig welded, the holes never lineup, the gaskets are shit...endless. The owner of CX is only out to make a dollar. Once he gets that off his mind then he'll start making some real coin.

Also, you can't use "oh its ebay" generic term..there is alot of different manufacturers of the same product. Just gotta know what to look for and how to tell. Do your homework.

Those orange tig weld lines aren't supposed to be left on like that anyway. If my boss saw me tig weld something without using a pickling solution afterwards, he would tell me off.
Have a look at some furniture made out of stainless steel you don't see orange burn marks. It should be either ground flat or have some sort of pickling solution so the welds blend in with the rest of the stainless steel.
Its funny how people buy these adapters and then modify it themselves to their liking. They may aswell have made it themselves from the beginning its and adapter how hard is it to make. Anyone who can do basic tig welding can make one of these and save the $200 these guys charge.
If you can't weld then don't bother buying this and then take it to a shop to be modified. Spend the $150 extra and get an adapter from revshift that will fit without hassles. With any size wastegate outlet you'd like.

I have a friend who welds.. I might see if he can make me an adapter or if not, I can but this manifold and have him fix it. We'll see, this is all speculation. Chances are I will spend the extra money for a revshift adapter lol

If you want to make a simple adapter then flip your manifolds. Even a tard could build one then.

I have the old john volk 666 adapter that this thing is cloning. Mine is of extremely high quality but I had to switch from studs to bolts for the manifold-to-head connection to get the manifold assembly on without lifting the engine. The fit is very tight, and I would expect a similar issue with a china copy.

I assume it would be the same performance wise as the revshift/666 adapter?

Is there anywhere other than revshift that sells the exhaust manifold flanges?
