Hey I've got a 3" Vibrant Metal Core Cat with less than 15K on it off my turbo. If you were thinking about using a cat its yours for $50 shipped. The shop that installed it welded two flanges on it, but you can always cut those out if you wanted.

Lastly, I have the 3" piping thats between the down pipe and cat. Has the mendral bends in it and an O2 bung for the LC1 sensor. Its an old piece and has some surface rust to it, but it is still intact.
I can take photos for you this weekend as I will be back in Philly (where all this stuff is). But I wont be back there for a few weeks after that. If you are interested send me a PM.
awesome site.. i was just thinking about re-doing my exhaust.
I have 3" with straight thru but it's kinda too loud. Thinking about trying to cram a second muffler on it or one that's got a few chambers.
Comparing noise levels on mufflers seems impossible!
Most people who go through the time/hassle of putting on a turbo kit don't run 5lbs of boost. They make enough power for a 3" to be necessary.
Yeah when I first put it on I had been running 8lbs with 2.50 exhaust. But now that i'm going to build it up and go 15lbs I think 3" would be reasonable.
I got all of my exhaust stuff from summit (minus the mandrel bends which I sourced on eBay) I built this on jackstands with the mig welder on the other side of building.
Here's the downpipe
2.5" --- 3" adapter (bought the 2.5" downpipe and didn't feel like building a new one at the time)
Used lots of sharpie marks, tacked with the mig, test fit, tacked some more.
I used a flex pipe (you NEED one of these) and a glass pack from summit
Here it is, all tacked with the Summit Turbo Muffler at the rear.
Test fitting
Painted
Here's one of the hangars I made. It worked, but not too well. I will be doing it differently next time around
Don't forget about the bung for the wideband!!
All done, minus the tips. You can kind of see how low the 3" exhaust will be.
Here are some sound clips. Forget the exhaust leak in the first video.... :(
Here's another in car...I did not get on it at all, it was one of the first test drives!
That sounds incredible, looks good too!! When you were looking at those pipes on ebay do you remember how you looked it up?
