    E30 2 door chassis strength???

Hi everybody, i have turbocharged my e30 2 door 1990 with a 3.0L turbo engine, and looking to run 700hp +/-

up to date my rear X member ripped off the back end running 400hp and now looks like this:

I have now bought a new shell but before i wind up the boost i wanted to know what the actual shell can hold before twisting and also how to reinforce the shell, the problem is this is a road car and i would not want a roll cage X in the position of the rear seats, as i would like to keep the rear seats.

    Does anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks

    Gary

they are using a m5 diff, i think it has different mounting than a regular e30 diff

Oh I havent read the article yet its sitting by the shitter waiting for me to get that far LOL

but yes I could see the use of the M5 diff an I belive you are right on the diffrent mounting, i was just using that car an example that E30 inhearently has pretty tough chassis an with the proper bracing can take lots of abuse.

I am pritty confident in reinforcing the diff mount, but how should i reinforce the rest of the car? or can it hold 700hp without doing anything else? i wouldlike a super strong chassis : )

build a custom torque tube setup(like on the porsche 944 turbo)

Out of curiosity, what where you doing to rip out the diff mount like that? I've got a bunch of runs on my abused chassis with nothing looking like that. When I say abused I mean 5,000 rpm launces with slicks and antilag.

How to rip your car apart?

Im not really sure Donovan, I have a twin plate hks clutch which is really jumpy and 265 rear tyres, but apart from that i normally dip the clutch at around 40-50mph and wheelspin it in second and third.

Thats it really, and one day after doing a high-ish speed run, around 130mph my speedo stopped working. but i feel it must have been ripped slowly as my exhaust dropped a day before

i dont have any pics, but it is basically a tube that goes in between the transmission and differential, with the drive shaft inside of it.

this makes the transmission and differential connected, and all of the torque is transferred through the tube, and the force is canceled out, so nothing twists

it would probably be a bad idea to even start on a project like that, just disregard what i said

but i think that my rear strut brace with a piece going through the trunk and tying into the diff would be the best

that "torque tube" doesnt make any sense to me the tranny and diff torque in the same direction dont they

Torque tube - see Camaro and Nascar Sedans. Not the best for road handling due to large unsprung weight but really good for drags.
                            Is that tub rusted?
