    turbo eta economy?

just out of curiosity since i want to build my eta and am still not sure what path to take et, what kind of millage can i get out of a turbo eta? Im trying to decide weather or not to just turbo it and add dual valve springs and an i cam, or do a full i head swap with cusom pistons and leave it n/a.

i am in college, and money isnt exactly growing on trees for me, so economy with power wold be nice if possible.

The turbo isn't going to help your economy at all. Do the head swap and save up.

Pretty much no matter what you do your mileage will go to shit. If mileage is really your priority, leave it stock.

A turbo on a stock eta could get great mileage, but you'd have to keep your foot out of it.

i know id need to keep my foot off of it. I alos know that doing any kind of mod is gonna decrease my economy. IM not looking to keep it where its at, i know that is unrealistic. I was just hoping to stay in the 24+ range? is that possible?

Consider that the decrease in gas miliage will set you back only about $200-$300 a year, depending on how much you drive it. Can you swing that? if not, maybe a turbo really isn't all that realistic.

Yeah, if you can't swing $20 a month more gas, a turbo is probably not for you.

ok, so my mileage would be in the teens? and can i keep the a/c with a turbo?

Also, lets put it this way, if a turbo is gonna make my mileage go into the teens, i could just drop a 350 into my camaro and have more power, lol. So it looks like ill just be doin a n/a build i guess.

Find a M50. They are going pretty cheap now. Slowly save for your swap. Then you will get roughly 28mpg. And you have alot more potential for mods and power in the future

Issac gets 24-26mpg in his turbo 325is... ~240hp to the wheels. but matt knows all!

that said, I'm not so sure a turbo e motor is a great idea anyway. you'll have what, 2000rpm of boost? I guess it could work better if you set it up right, but still.

I don't believe for a second that you've had a tank of gas in that car that never saw full throttle gas-chugging goodness :p

Turbo's generally make better gas mileage as long as you never boost. Something to do with the air being atomized.
