factory ecu is best !
There is no better ecu than the factory control unit - 173 for that car unless you spend big bucks. Tuning the chip in your ECU is not very difficult or you can go to a guy like Dan Miller who has mastered that ecu on forced induction builds. www.millerperfromancecars.com

Some have had some real luck running a MAF with a Split Second piggy back. But for all I know it could just be luck. The MS is the better option in my view.Leave a comment:

tcd sells a chip and you cna also find ebay knock off ones. they say there for up to 15psi.... all they do is retard timing after 3000rpm... there are plenty of guys over on e30tech runnin the chip adn rrfpr, with bigger injectors... one guy i talked a bit isnt even running the chip jsut 30lbs injectors and the fmu. he runs 10 psi, and makes over 300 whp. with the chip for 15 psi you can safely run more boost and make more power.
he has a stock eta bottom end with i top, i dont recall what size exhaust he has. his turbo is a garret .60 trimLeave a comment:

Megasquirt is worth it. Just keep reading and researching and you'll be allright. If you want to build it yourself DIYautotune.com sells an adapter board that plugs straight into your m20's stock engine harness.Leave a comment:

I will second the usage of a Wideband O2 sensor with a realtime gauge. Definatly worth it!Leave a comment:

you can run a chip ,arrfpr,at 7-10psi and use stock injectors, reccomend installing a wideband, I prefer this to all the sophisticated tuning stuff gonig on today, but dont expect to any big hp., This will last a long time making plenty of hp .my2centsLeave a comment:

my car isn't being built for speed. Plus I am not hp hungry. I am just looking for that little extra kick to get the car sideways ant 45 mph. Now when I eventually swap to something newer/better Then I'll probably get m/s or something. I don't care to much about the m20Leave a comment:

not everyone is not looking for big power.
but it eventually finds you and you can't stop wanting more.......Leave a comment:

When I was into hondas I had turbo'd a single cam d series using an fmu. Everyone told me not to do it because it is unreliable. I had that set up on 13 pounds for over a year, and I drove the hell out of the car, before a motor mount broke and I dropped the engine while doing 60mph. You can make it reliable by taking out a little timing and upping the fuel pressure a little. They guys that told me not to do it, they all blew up their set ups. I'll probably just go fmu and a chip on mine, since I am not looking for huge power.Leave a comment:

You can use what ever you want. MS is difficult cause you have to mod the board to get it to work for your car. Buying a better sealed ecu is way sweeter but you still have to go through wiring it to the car.
The FMU (rrfpr) and slightly bigger injectors has been a proven method for YEARS. The only down fall is its only safe until about 8 or 9 psi. The reason you can get away with it on your m20 is you can "tune" the AFM enough to get the car to run well on larger injectors (i hear 30lb/hr is the limit) before boost and then the FMU takes car of the rest.Leave a comment:

If you don't have any idea how to wire megasquirt, you are in luck, as I sell a plug and play megasquirt setup where all the wiring is done, http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...ght=megasquirtLeave a comment:

I dont have no idea of how to wire ms I have read the sight 100 times and nothingLeave a comment:

there is no reason aem wouldn't work. People use it on 24v motors in e36's.. m20s are cake.Leave a comment:

Are there any aftermarket ECUs that are commonly used in the japanese car market that we can use?
Mainly because I would be able to get a great deal on tuning if it was something they were familiar with. Perhaps AEM EMS?Leave a comment:
