    Cleaning an IC

I just picked up a cheap nissan sidemount IC and the turbo had blowing a bit of oil apparently. Anyone have any tips for cleaning the thing out? I was thinking a good soak in some hot detergent rich water followed by a good shaking the shit out of, rinse, repeat. Sound like a good method?

Yeah, Just soak it and flush a few times. Oil alone should come out fairly easy.

Diesel fuel, gasoline, or parts cleaner, maybe.

I would fill it with rubbing alcohol, then cap the ends with nitrile gloves/balloons and hose clamps, and shake the ever loving hell out of it. Hit it with a hair dryer on the exterior to warm up the IC so the gunk/varnish comes off easier.

varnish remover will work really well and is cheap. to do it right nyou will need a couple of gallons by the time you are done.

I would throw it in the garbage and get a new one.-- they are pretty cheap on ebay, and if something is lodged in it and decides to come out later-= fun.

              It's really just a bit of oil/grease/residue, I don't think it's fubared at all.

By that logic I guess I need to go get a 24 month lease on a new toyota or something, otherwise there might by something wrong with it or I need to source a brand new transmission and most of my suspension components because I just don't know do I?

A swig of gasoline and shake it around. Done.

^LOL. I think gas might be your cheapest option - $$$/gallon that is anyways.
