    just let them breath...m10s

    i was thinking about all the m10 blasting that goes on around here and i thought to myself...the average m10 sucks because it cant breath. once i took off the stock air filter and put on a straight pipe my m10s run like mad...

    i think dollar for dollar the m10 is the cheapest bang for your buck bmw around... no chips needed... no cams (although im sure they help) just a k&n and get rid of the cat....

    i am adding a turbo to my 02 and im sure it will take it to another level as well...

    the fuel injection has been a pain on the 318i but im guessing its just because the wires are 25 years old....once i worked out the shorts it runs like mad...well enough to crack the stock header...

    dont dump them ....just free up the breathing!

      It needs way more than just air filter mod to make it "run like mad".

            lol @ the comments... So the question is... Can the parts from a 2002 work on a 318i since it's essentially the same engine? Like the header specifically?

                  every thing swaps form a 318 to an 02...im not sure about the head. i did see an 02 at a junkyard one w an 83 head on it...but im not sure if the bottom end was out of a 318 or not. dizzys , headers , intakes ,exhuast all the same...

                  i would like an s14 but i have yet to fall in love with the m20, and i really dont know anything about m50s.

                  and i was really just putting that out there for the m10ers...

                          I have a '68 2002.

                          Well, it was a 1600-2, and I blew that up, so now its got the 2.0L engine in it (with the 4.10 rear that the 1600 came with), and 25% more torque across the board really wakes things up.

                            Ummm no, there were differences... head with the mechanical fuel pump for once, different intake manifolds etc.... single row vs dual row chain..

                              my mechanical fuel pump was gone long ago.....i bought a Carter form steve at top end performance....years ago...in fact i bought 2....cuz one took a dump... the m10 on the 318 has no hole for it..but why run a mechanical fuel pump?

                              it really takes nothing to delete....i made a cool cnc cover to block the old hole...but before that i just pluged it w some 2 part resin.

                              all my m10 have had 2 row tc's .... i think my 69 that i hade way back in 87 had a single row . and i only remember that cause it had a jump link that i thought was the bomb for quick head pulls cuz you didnt have remove the front pully.. but i think its just of matter of changing the gears.

                              intake manifold all fit ...i could take the FI out of my 318i and put it in the 02 if i really wanted to....but why the carb is sooooo much simpler!
