    High idle

My car idles anywhere from 1500 rpm to 2000 rpm cold or warmed up. Once it's started if I unplug what I would say is the cold start valve or idle control (I'm still a noob with these cars) it will idle way up until I plug it back in.

If I unplug the little harness that goes to the thermostat housing/waterneck from the idle control it idles right around 1000 rpm if I set it there with the throttle cable stop, but it runs like a piece of fuck under load like that. What I'm thinking is that the sensor that tells the idle control/cold start that the car is up to operating temp has gone bad, so it's constantly thinking the car is still cold and trying to compensate.

Does any of that make any sense, or am I way out in left field with all this?

when i first got my car, it would idle at 1500...once warm 2000.

idle control was non existent in that, it was more of an on/off switch. either high idle or no idle if i unplugged it.

could be tps: do you hear a click at your throttle switch once you move from close/back to close?

could be idle control module: no idea how to test this but its located in the glove box.

i nvr fixed the problem BUT have you tried by passing the idle control all together and set the idle by the throttle body? people have much success with this. I do want to note that you may have small idle problems when cold. but everything will be fine once warm.

when you thermal time switch only activates when cold starting.
the dme coolant sensor adjust fuel due to temperature.
the other sensor goes to your cluster.

if you unplug the dme coolant sensor, you could be running rich, which is causing your poor ride quality when you adjust the idle to 1000rpm using the throttle stop.

check for air leaks. old worn hoses suck air in and make everything else over compensate..i went through the same shit. turned out my brake booster fitting was leaking and the exhaust mani was cracked...check my post on afm .. bad vibes posted a sweet link for testing you afm...

So I have the same problem with the high idle, and I know for sure my brake booster seal is leaking. Are you saying that my leaky booster could be causing my high idle?

That's what he is saying. Also check the vacuum line going from your fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold. Your coolant temperature sensor can also be a gremlin that should be checked. But yes...vacuum leaks on these m10's will mess with everything, fix them
