Here is a handy link over at BMW2002FAQ. Cylinder head CCs volumes, pistons, block and CR Should help give an idea of compression ratios and such depending on what pistons you have in your 2002 block with whichever head you use. I'm not quite sure how to do the conversions, maybe someone could point me in the right direction so I could learn. I have the e12 pistons in my block, which were rated 8.3:1 CR. That is with the e12 head which has a 61cc combustion chambers. The 318i head is rated at 63cc (I have also heard 65cc but can't find where). If the ration is 8.3:1 with 61cc, what will the drop be due to the added 2cc in the cylinder head?
After looking around some more, I'm finding that the e12 piano pistons are rated 9.0:1 ratio? I'm confused now and need a straight source.Last edited by Hey_You; 04-28-2012, 08:05 AM.Comment

The distributor does turn the opposite way, but you can swap the gear on the distributor so that it works. 2002 guys do that so they can run their engines on l-jet. No aftermarket ignition required.

all m10 parts fit in all m10 blocks.
you can put a 2.0 crank into any m10 block including the 1.8 block, but you must have the 2.0 pistons or custom. the rods are the same length, for the 1.8 though the 2.0 are thicker.?Comment
