    It depends - all M20s have distributors, but electronic ignition management.

      Don't m20's run Motronic? Which i believe uses some sensors to "optimize" spark. While in searching on l-jet i could only find that it controls fuel, not spark.

      On a side note the m10's cam is directly connected to the distributor. Is this the same case on an m20? I've never pulled one apart...

        The motronic that came on M20s has tables for ignition vs rpm vs load, but no knock sensor, so no "optimization" without a chip / tune. most distributors are hooked directly to the cam (often with a gear in the way) with the early M20s being a rare exception as they had one driven off an intermediate shaft.
