BMW Noob Needs Help

I just bought my 85 318I about two weeks ago and have been doing what research I can and going through the forums. I see alot about owning the bently manual and am wondering where to get one? Im afraid to do anything myself to the car as of yet because I dont know much about them except general stuff. Current issuses include a loose connector in my speed/odometer when i reach my hand under while Im driving i can press/pull on the connector a little. It will start working then stop and randomly will stay operational lol. Also my Tach is now im sure not reading correctly..theres no way my engine idles under 500rpm? and when I accelerate it only goes up to 1k...I smell fuel when I corner mostly in 2nd gear and ive crawled underneath and looked for any leaks but havent found anything. Im just looking for any tips or advice as of now to keep it operational through winter. Ive been givin the website pelicanparts.com and thats about it. Anything else would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try amazon for a bently manual. Sounds like your car just needs some maintenance. Unless your tach is functioning properly then u may have some issues.

Pelican has a good site to check after you find your part number on realoem.com but you can buy parts cheaper. My preferred vendors are bmaparts.com; autohausaz.com & fcpeuro.com. For genuine BMW parts getbmwparts.com although my dealer will match them all day.
