    Help me fix my M10?

    got an 84 318i.
i have tried everything to fix it and i just cant afford to take it to a shop again. i can definitely cover gas, time and parts. hit me up if you know a ton about m10's and want to help me out and make a little extra cash.
car barely runs, has a super ruff idle. might be dirty injectors and the MAF could need cleaning. just not sure.

Already replaced: in tank fuel pump.
    secondary in line pump.
    fuel filter.
    air filter.
    plugs, wires cap and rotor.
    power train control module (ecm?).

I brought the car to a shop in non running condition ,1500 in parts and labor and they got it running, barley...so i went to pick my car up and they said it would cost a bunch more money to find out whats wrong with it. so i just took the car home.

    some please help!
Shut up! I just got done driving.

Have you, or the shop you had work on it verified timing?

Sure, but don't expect 100% sure solution. Taking it to a good shop that charges even twice as much will likely save you money in the long run. You need someone thst knows the ins and outs of the m10.

Thats what i did for all those repairs i listed. They did an awesome job and all and had it done in 2 days for 1500 bones, but im running on family loans right now and im afraid i will ruin my life if i throw someone elses money in the trash by chancing it. I cant spend more than 500 more on this problem.

Like I said elsewhere, if the shop called it a powertrain control module, they were likely more versed in GM products than BMW's. Take it to a BMW specific independent shop.

need specifics... when does it do, what does it do, etc... i may be able to help. But you gotta be specific. is it when warm? cold? hesitation? bogging? what else?

do your CTS and verify AFM is working then try again.

It hesitates on start up. When it finally does fire if i push the gas down it bogs out until it finally revs up to about 3k rpms. If i let off the gas it idles rough up and down for a moment and then dies.
It has no power when and if it will drive. It just lugs and chugs and lurches forward violently like a little kid attempting to drive a stickshift haha. The car sounds like an old subaru of vw.
The timing could be off. A valve could have blown. The maf could need to be cleaned. Injectors could need cleaning. Idk what to do. I just need someone to come help.

Sounds suspicious of bad timing/ afm. I'd start at TDC & see what happens from there.

Make sure u have your wires in the correct order. Firing order is on the valve cover.

as a GM guy, I can help a bit

                              MAF = AFM
mass air flow/ Air flow meter
