I put a 284 schrick cam in my m10 and when I started it it had no power? Any ideas?

Get off the computer and check out of you put it in wrong or if anything is disconnected or broken. Perhaps it lost timing.

Is your distributor spinning the correct direction?

Here's some info you should provide:
What year/car your m10 is in
What car the cam you bought was advertised for
Things you have checked since you posted this
          Your timing settings
          Other modifications to the engine

Without anymore info I would say to verify the cam is timed correctly by verifying the line on the cam lines up with the boss on the head at #1 TDC, then check your timing, and verify all components are connected and properly installed.

It's a 1985 bmw 318i we have rotated the distributer and it's spinning the right way my guess is maybe the timing marks aren't lined up right or is it possibly while running it out if time it jumped time? But I do know that it's out of time because it's backfiring through the intake

What do you mean by this ? Does the distributor rotate the same direction as the arrow on the outside of the distributor?

First check the spark plugs wires are in the correct firing order.
Check for vacuum leaks, rocker arms properly adjusted .008 while warm.

Then verify timing is correct with a timing light. That can be checked in two places, front crank pulley and also through the bellhousing on top of the transmission.

You can adjust the timing by turning the distributor. You will need a timing light while doing this to check advance.

Make sure your cam was designed for a late m10. The early m10 engines spun the distributer the other way That would make your 1342 firing order 1243 and would fire 2 of the cylinders out the intake.

It's spinning the right way? But it might be that my chain is off a tooth or something because we checked the motor at tdc and the mark on the pulley didn't line up right so is that possie

I would add to make sure #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke (ie both valves closed) when you install the distributor. Otherwise you'll be out 180 which is my bet

If you line up the cam with the boss on the head the valves will be closed, I checked with a spare head the other day
