This part?

Hey I just wondered if anyone could identify this part to me and it's function if possible?

Found on the firewall. Removed to access the heater blower.

It's an electric valve. Part of the vacuum control system. I know one hose connects to the distributor vacuum regulator. It's true function or how to test it I'm not sure exactly. I found the location of that electric valve on realoem.com they have very useful diagrams.

I think it is part of the ignition advance system. It might control vacuum to the distributer vacuum advance during idle conditions.
