    Will an e21 1.8L m10 motor fit in an e30?

    Sorry if this is a noob question but I've never really wrenched before. I did a bit of research and noticed that the fuel injectors were different.

    I blew my 84 e30 318i's engine and was thinking of replacing the motor. I have a replacement 1.8L m10 motor from an e21 and unless I'm mistaken, I should be able to just drop in the e21 m10 motor and it should hook up correctly?

    The e21 m10 is a later model I believe.

      If it's fuel injected then i believe you should be able to drop it in. Worst case would be to switch over intake and ignition parts. I know the 2002 guys use the 318i parts to convert to injection. Its only the 2.0 internals and head parts that arent directly interchangeable.

      So compare intakes, fuel rails, harness, and distributor before going through with it all.

          e21=cis injectors in head
          e30=efi injectors in manifold
          so you will need plugs for the cis holes at least.

          you may find some bosses need drilling.
