    I finally got a 5 speed and now my top speed with an open 3.91 is in excess of 125mph,as long as there is a downhill road that is...hehe

      i did 85 in 5th gear at 4000 rpms, and my tires are 205 14 60's i need a lower diff ratio

        i had to change my speedo in my 318 and i dont remember where i got the replacement from but the new one was off. i would have thought they are all the same. maybe the new one was from a 325. anyway i got another one and it was spot on
        First: 1984 318i

          think mines off too, when im doing 60 feels like im really doing 50, or maybe its just the feel of a e30??

              same thing with mine. t
              hose are the right size tires and the speedo sensor is on the axle so you can put any tranny or gears in it that you want and it will still be accurate

                hmm, well i did my lil test just an hour ago, 1st gear i hit around 30 (6000 rpms) 2nd i was at 55 at 6000rpms and 3rd i didnt have time to open up its an m10 haha

                  well i tested it agian on teh free way , 90 mph at 4000rpms in 5th gear.

                    Yeah, if everything is working as it should and given enough room it will get there. Don't do it on the streets though ;)

                      comparing speeds to rpms is not the best way to see if your speedometer is working have someone pace you or find one of those stupid radars on the side of the road that tell you how fast your going. If you speedometer is significantly off it can pretty much only be the wrong tire size or the speedometer itself

                            found out my car has an 3.91 ratio on my diff, remeber teh tag thing when i worked on someones e30 today and tehy had a 2.9 :D
