M10 E21 running like crap!!

ok got this car about 2 weeks ago . the car car runs like crap!!! misfiring in 2nd , 3rd , and 4th .

the problem is that it pulls ok in first gear but once i hit 2nd its all over .

any tips???

First gear in a e21 m10 is SO low that a lawnmower engine would make that gear feel good. I assume you have done cap/rotor/plugs/filters?

i did the filter but not the plugs and such , do you think its the reason tho??? because it pullls ok in first?? i just need to fix the rust and drive the car .

here is an example: went for a little test drive today . The car idles like crap . and then it will just idle high for a bit and then it will go back to Normal?? the engine is dirty as hell though , do you think with a little clean up things will be better?

Check all the vacuum lines yet?

Clean the ICV?

Clean the injectors and replace o-rings?

Check and/or replace the spark plugs, ignition wires , coil, distributor/rotor?

Oh yea, those O-rings dry up like little turds. Do a tune up - and get something to clean the valves. Always run chevron gas in a CIS m10 - helps alot.

Like I said, first gear is a joke in e21m10's.

you said.. i did the filter, can you clarify that? fuel filter or air filter? Both should be replaced.

i am trying to cover the rust as much as possible.i am just busy with work and school now . also i just got a call from a freind , telling me that there is a 323i E30 for sale for 500$ . if it has the euro bumpers am getting that car .
