    84 318i questions

    i just recently picked up a white 84 318i coupe.

    few question i have that i cant seem to find anywhere on the boards

    recomended engine oil weight?

    can i run synth?

    also the blower motor in my car doesnt seem to be running at all when im on the highway i can feel the air blowing through the vents so im getting flow just no power behind it

    any ideas?

      and you can, but it might make your engine leak, besides its a m10, 20w50 will be fine.


      &, the resistor might be bad in it.

        if the blower doesnt work in any speed its probably either not getting power or the motor is bad. the resister only controls speeds 1 and 2

          yes not running at all

          where exactly would i check for power?

          in the access pannel in the bay? or do i have to go in through the dash

            Pop the hood and check the fuses. The access panel is behind the intake manifold, on the firewall. Easy to remove. Under it you'll find a blower fan and a resistor on it.

              actually i dont know how to reconect it haha it was off and kinda proped up when i bought the car

              seems like everything is connected ill check the fuses in a bit and see if any are blown

              also the highly anoying buzzer that go's off when ither door is open and the car is running

              how do i disable it?

              gotta be a fuse or something along those lines

                just drop the panel above the pedals and un plug it.
                First: 1984 318i
                Second: 1987 325
                Third: 1987 325is
                Current: 1990 325i (Soon To Be 335i)

                    do you really need pictures and a full write up to remove 3 half turn plastic screws?
                    First: 1984 318i
                    Second: 1987 325
                    Third: 1987 325is
                    Current: 1990 325i (Soon To Be 335i)

                      i just figured there is a good amount of wiring and plugs beneath that and im suposed to know what to pull?

                        its a little black box that clips on to the panel. if you take it apart you will know exactly whats there. lol.
