85 325e fuel pumps not receiving power.

I picked up an 85 325e that had an engine fire and I’m restoring essentially. I’ve replaced the entire harness and everything that was burnt and now my fuel pumps don’t receive power. When I crank they don’t turn on or recieve power. I replaced the relay and fuse. I tried jumping the fuse and the fuel pump only receives about .15 volts instead of the twelve. However it’s noticeable that I recieve a little power when the fuse is jumped. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks in advance.

With the fire in the engine bay, god knows what was effected. Get a copy of your wiring diagrams here: http://wedophones.com/Manuals/BMW/

With a multi meter, check the resistance in each of the wires going to the fuel pump. Including the ground circuits. When you jumper the fuel pump, the pumps should have 12 volts and run.

Once you get that sorted, the "E" engines require the Crank Position Sensor (CPS) to pulse for the ECU to turn on the fuel pumps.

Jumper the RELAY and see what the pump's getting.

If it's nothing, then it's a pretty straight troubleshooting path via tom's link, above.
You should also meter the relay socket and see if the relay's even getting power on the supply pin.

      it's all in the VOM!
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Basically I did some more tests and I tried jumping the relay again and anytime I give pin 87 power all voltage vanishes. Pin 30 has constant battery power but the moment I bridge the two it’s gone (I think it’s those 2 pins it’s off the top of my head)
