Mark D Chip vs Megasquirt 2

My PO put in 18 pound injectors and a 173 DME but didn't do anything to upgrade the software to match the bigger injectors. Engine is an otherwise stock 1988 M20B25.

I was thinking of just getting a chip from Mark D to play nice with the 18's and bump the power a smidge. Would there be much performance and/or mileage improvement going to Megasquirt instead? Obviously a lot more work and money - worth the difference? I've never seen a dyno comparison between these.

there will be a performance improvement with MS, yes. The biggest difference is losing the restrictive AFM and gaining acceleration enrichment (throttle response). however keep in mind you have to tune EVERYTHING yourself. Cold starts, hot starts, idle, warm up, timing, cruise, low loads, full throttle, etc. etc. On an otherwise stock motor, you're probably better off getting a chip and calling it a day.
