Is this how new fan clutches are supposed to look?

Ordered a Sachs fan clutch from FCP that had what I thought was corrosion on the metal plate. They sent me another and it has the same thing 🤔. I also now see that ECS's photos show the same stuff on a clutch on their site.

    Is this schmutz expected?

Pretty sure it's flux or brazing rod residue.

It's a metal spring that moves when the temperature rises. This alloy rusts pretty fast in toy cars.

Here it's covered by a paper label: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-mahle_be...521723918~ber/

I had bought a Mahle one from fcp euro a few years back, did not have any corrosion or gunk on it, but it was also in a plastic bag covered in some sort of grease (not fan clutch fluid). May just be a brand issue
