    Idle issues

    Hi all

New to the forum so hello from Scotland!.

I hope some of you may be able to help. I’ve got a 325i touring which I’m doing servicing on but having issues with idle - it’s stuck at around 1100 - 1200 rpms and cannot get it down. I know this is a well trodden topic but I’ve done just about everything to try and find where the high idle is coming from. I’ve done all the vacuum smoke leak tests, icv cleaning and checking, changed temp sensors, have a new throttle body all good there and also fuel pump, pressure regulator, fuel filter, vac hoses etc.

Separate to this I had the car on ramps and was checking underneath and noticed that the centre muffler was fairly rotten and one of the joins had a fairly big hole in it!!..oddly it isn’t loud. My question is would this be enough of a hole to maybe impact the O2 sensor and that is affecting the idle?

Also I have quite a bit of white smoke, thinking head gasket (ugh) but completed the check with the blue liquid and it stayed blue not turned yellow/green (redrel I think it’s called). Just wondering as it’s freezing here at the moment on start up could this be condensation maybe being worse because of that hole? Also dripping quite a bit of water from the exhaust..and has a small lag on start up.

    any help most appreciated

    thank you
    stephen
