    ecu

    I just picked up two mb2025 ecu's

    0 261 200 153 (green)

    0 261 200 380 (yellow)

    0 261 200 525 (red)

Out of these, which is the best one to have?

My current one has a chip but I plan on swapping into the best ecu

the 153 is the older version, motronic 1.1, the 380 is the newest one it supercedes the 173, it is motronic 1.3, this is the better one it will throw more CEL codes and is generally better i.e better idle etc. it will also work with performance chips made for 173 DME's

Will I notice a difference when I put a new ecu on....is there any tuning involved when switch ECU's?

173, 380 and 525 are *all* Motronic 1.3. The are the same exact thing, the only real difference is probably improved/cheaper manufacturing and maybe the checksum in the chip. 153 is Motronic 1.1 and compatible 1.3 wiring harnesses, but it's an earlier 2 board design and is known to have issues.
