    Low End Torque Help

so my car has horrible low end torque but once it hits 4000 it speeds up does anyone have any mods i can do to increase low end torque. just about any price range disclosing like T/C or S/C because those are to gnarly right now. i donno but i was thinkin like lighter pullies and port n polishin all that stuff? please send me some of your input i would love to know what you guys have done and what to do and stuff..

    thanks ken...:):)

    is that a 325e or a 325i?

if its an e then you are just in the wrong car. They have a good amount of low end torque but are gutless either way.

now the i motor is a little different. A chip is always a nice upgrade. MarkD is a popular chip and shows good improvement all around. But whether you have an e or an i, the MarkD chip is probably your best bet.

If you are talking about an i car that power kick at 4000 is what an m20b25 does. If you're talking about an e shit you got only 1000 more rpms anyway.

Under drive pullys are a fucking joke IMHO they won't do shit, a port and polish won't do much unless the rest of the internals of the engine are done up too (i.e hot cam, high compression, stroker etc) a chip is really the best bet, decent longtube headers will also increase low end torque, I've had my eye on the cheap ebay ones for a while.

First of all though a general tune up will make the car run better all around, new cap and rotor new plugs and plug wires, fuel and air filter and a valve adjust. is the first thing to do bar none.

Keep the revs up. You're not going to get low end torque out of a 20-year-old 2.5 liter straight 6. For that, you would want, say, a BMW 745d with roughly 4X the torque of your M20.

            Good luck.

You should be getting around ~300 miles out of a full tank, even with a good bit of high-rev driving in there.

If you are only getting 200 miles out of a tank I'd say you for sure need to go the tuneup route. I get 300 out of my M20B25 seemingly no matter how hard I flog it.

I actually think these things have real nice low end torque for a small motor. Straight 6 FTW!
