    rough idle

I did some work to my car last weekend and now it seems like something is misfiring. When I listen to my exhuast, it's not a steady sound, it sounds like it's burbling.

I need a coolant flush and a valve adjustment, so I'm assuming something went wrong when I did the valve adjustment. However, it doesn't sound like the valves are knocking, there's not a "tic-tic-tic" sound. Could it be something with the spark plugs, ie not screwed in properly, something on the contacts?

You could have botched the valve adjustment and gotten one or more valves too tight, but there and equally good chance that the work has introduced an intake leak.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

So re-do the valves and see if that fixes the problem

        anyone?

Could it be an O2 sensor or ICV?

I know this falls into the realm of obvious but I did a valve adjustment once, started it up and it ran real rough. Turns out I forgot to reattach the #1 plug wire.

Not saying yours is so basic but one cylinder not getting spark will net you the effect you describe.

          Good luck.

From my experience there are seldom 'coincidences'. Just retrace your steps. Check any vacuum lines that may have been disturbed. Make sure the bolts holding the intake manifold to the valve cover are tight. If all is well, you may have the valves too tight. I have adjusted mine a half dozen times or so and still am not proficient at it... you may need to check them again. If they are really quiet, chances are they are too tight. You are supposed to hear some noise from the valvetrain.

The same thing happened to me... that was August and I still haven't found the problem.

I finally had some time today to check out the problem.
It was my spark plugs. I pulled them, cleaned them, made sure there was the proper amount of gap, and put them back in. It fixed the problem, the engine is running so much smoother now.
One of them wasn't sparking so it was filthy black due to all the gas just chilling in there.
