    e to i conversion questions

Ok, Im most of the way through my 1.3 swap and I have a couple of questions.

    1. What's the easiest way to wire up my starter? My 89i harness has two ring connectors and my starter from my 87e has a negative ring and two blade connectors.

    2. On the "i" harness by my ecu there are two connectors that don't have counterparts in my car. They are both the same shape, one is white one is black, one has 2 pins one has 3 pins. What do they go to, and do I need them?

    3. On my firewall above the hole for the ecu harness, three is a purple sensor with 2 blade connections on it, what the hell is that?

    4. Is there any thing need to modify wiring harness wise on my C101? I have the round style and the new harness plugs into it, but there are fewer connections in the chassis harness than there are in the engine harness, is that bad?

    TIA

Brian, it would be a very good idea to post pics of the stuff you are talking about.

There are a couple of connectors near the ECU that are not used.

Even if you listed wire color combos...

Ill try to take pics tonight when I get off work. The two connectors by the ECU pretty different from most of the other ones in the car. They are the exact same connector except for the color of the connector and the number of pins in them. They are about 6" back from the ECU plug itself.

I think those are diagnostic connectors.

Please tell me you have already downloaded your electrical manual?

I'm about to do this as soon as I source a harness that isn't hacked. Any hang ups?

It's been a while since I've done this but I think 2 connections is coupled into 1 terminal (check fuel pump schematics in both ETMs). Another one might be for the "check engine" light. My 85 had the rectangular C101 and I had to convert it to the round style. Since you already have the round style it should be as simple as adding terminals and running the wires.
