    Tbelt questions....

Ok so I did my tbelt and water pump, head gasket and the 1.3 swap last weekend and I got everything back together today and started. It runs nicely but there is there a weird noise from the front of the engine. It like an RPM related squeak, kinda like a belt squeal but its not one of the front belts. Im going to take the front end apart tomorrow to make sure the tbelt's not rubbing on anything. Has anyone had anything like this?

Also, when i mash the throttle it seems to choke a little bit. I think my xfer pump is bad, could that be causing this?

BTW: This is for an 87 325 with Motronic 1.3

All the belts have a little play in them like they should. Im going to adjust the valves today, but I don't understand why that would cause a noise like that.

no noise, my valve comment was regarding your stumbling issue.. as for the noise, can you isolate to inside the timing belt cover?

Its coming from right around the cover. Ill get a steth out and check it when I get off work. Im going to pull the cover off and check it anyway just to make sure nothing is rubbing.

As for the stumble that could make some sense. I'll see what happens when I adjust the valves today.

Did you replace the tbelt tensioner? They can squeak when old. Sometimes its more of a chirp than a squeak though.

I hope so.. it's not pretty when a tensioner is re-used and it fails.

OK, then don't be a noob and list it in what was replaced. See if I bother to help you again. Jeesh.

I won't bother to mention that if you didn't get the belt centered up, it will rub on the top cover, but I suppose that's a noob thing too right?

A real noob thing is being asked if you tensioned the fan belts correctly.... whoops, somebody else already did that...

Recently did a timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and accessory belt changeout on a 90 vert.

The water pump made a fair amount of racket as I was adding coolant and bleeding the air out, but things are quiet now.

Good Idea but it's got coolant and it didn't help either. I didn't get to pull things back apart yesterday but I should have my answer by today.
