    Hard start

After my 87 (173 ecu) IS sits for a few days, it's been starting harder and harder, ie. it takes quite awhile before it catches and starts. Once it starts there is a small puff of "black" smoke then life is fine. Does anyone have a suggestion where I should start? She had a tune up a month or so ago (plugs, cap rotor, coolant temp sensor etc) so I'm thinking that is all fine

The black smoke might be a sign of a flooded engine, which in this case could be a sign of injectors leaking. When the car is parked enough gas leaks into the engine to flood it.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Sounds like a good excuse to upgrade to bigger injectors to go w/ my cam etc:twisted:

        Are you selling a cam?

I just put some injectors in my M20 for the same reason, it was hard to start after sitting for a while.. It starts great now and idles alot smoother. I used some injectors from an M30, they are the green injectors, but i dont really know what the flowrate is. can anybody shed some light on the different injectors and what the color codes mean? I have read that the m20 comes with type I injectors and the type II and III had a better spray pattern and were available on M30 and M50 engines

          M30 are 19# AFAIK

don't know if they are design 1 (single pintle, shitty spray pattern) or design II/III (4 pintle). M50 injectors are definitely 4 pintle.

No I'm not selling a cam. I'm currently running a schrick 282/274 (i think) w/ stock m20 injectors and a 173 ecu, IE shorty headers, "custom" mid pipe and supersprint exhaust. I am on the fence (still) about what size injectors and software to go w/ and this issue might be the one that forces me to shit or get off the pot....
