Hi, I haven't seen this after searching...
The problem I am having is my 1988 325is hunts for idle, between 600-900 rpm, only when slowing down with the clutch in, like rolling the last 50 feet to a stop sign. Once the car has stopped rolling and is stationary, the idle stabilizes after a second or two.
It is annoying because if I try to add throttle again before coming to complete stop and catch the low part of the idle range, it stumbles and jerks and can stall.
I have done most of the tune-up stuff, plugs, cap, rotor, valves, replaced vacuum and fuel hoses. the car will idle all day smoothly otherwise. I have been able to afford the plug wires yet, so they may need to changed out.
What would be causing the car to "tell the difference" between standing still and idling normally and rolling with the clutch in and hunting for idle?
Thanks in advance!!
