Rocker shaft/ Cam gear torx bit? help!

I broke a rocker arm (#5 intake) and I need to buy a torx bit that will fit the center bolt of the cam gear so i can slide the rocker shaft out. Im stuck for now till I buy the bit but i need to know what size to get. Also if anyone has any advise on the best way to get the shaft out with the head still on that would be awesome.

You can work the rocker shaft part way out by grabbing the shaft with channel locks and twisting any pulling. Line the jaws of the channel locks with copper to avoid scoring the shaft. For the copper protector a piece of copper tubing split and slipped over the shaft will work.

Better to by a Torx bit set as you'll need other sizes later.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

pull the head.. pulling those shafts is a royal pita.. get the whole set as Jim said because you need another size to get the head bolts off.

thanks for the advise. i ended up getting the whole set, and the channel locks + copper worked great.
Some time soon im going to pull the head and rebuild the whole thing and swap in a 5spd, this is just going to be a quick fix so i can get back out to school.

a better way is to remove the key that holds the shafts in and use a flathead screwdriver in the slot to pull them forward.

they should slide out easy once you slide the rockers off the springs/cam lobes. if they don't, either the shafts are bent or the head is warped and you need to pull it anyway..

You can slide the rocker shaft out thru the cam sprocket on the intake side.

PS I have 2 new rocker arms for sale...
