I just dont know WTF to do. Help me out.

I have an '85 325e (2.7). I have searched my ass off but Im still confused. I want to make a 400 HP or SO dd. I want it to be turbo goodness. Do I just build the 2.7 and BT it or should I tackle the ass pain of an S50/S52 and the bajillions of misc. parts needed? I know there are M20 T's out there. If I do get some M20T thoughts.....what aftermarket parts should I go with (I.E....rods, pistons, head, etc.). I just dont know what would be easier..and somewhat cheaper...lol. Thanks.

2.7 block and stock pistons(2.7) with "I" head and electronics. That combo will make a low compression motor ready for boost.

There is alot more to it than what is stated above but you get the idea.

400hp may be a stretch with that combo, but it still would be fun.

You should have no problem hitting 280-300hp on the stock bottom end. With 400hp on a dd, all you would ever have is wheelspin without huge tires. You'll want to rebuild the bottom though. (bearings, rings, etc.). Use an m20b25 head on top of your 2.7 block. It would probably be cheaper to put together your own kit instead of buying one already built. But if you want to go the complete kit at once route for about $5k

Sounds like the only part you're familiar with is 400hp on the drawing board.... you realize you're driving an e30 right ? not a longer car like a 240 or what not....i think the boost section on here should have plenty of info if u wanna go boost.... maybe you can go s52 route and get closer to your goal hp.

            400hp daily driver, lol.

The only way you're achieving that is an LS1 or better.

Yea...Im trying to just fore-go the easiest route and pile a list of rods, pistons, etc. since the motor i have in it now would love new internals. I am familiar with the 885 head but nothing past that. Its gonna be a long journey fo sho. Im going to be fitting an M-Tech II kit to the car very soon. I just dont know it i want to keep the DB's or not. Seems like the easier route...lol. Anyways, thanks for the input!

I know there HAS TO BE people on here that have already built and turbo'd an M20. I mean BUILT. What gains have they yielded?

I have been trying to find an S50/S52 motor but everything has went south. The whole point of this post was to figure out if going M20+turbo would be easier in the long run then swapping in an engine like the S50. Ughh.

Come on now...a built engine and PROPERLY matted turbo should be in that range. I know plenty of peeps running 400-600HP dd's......
