stereoinstaller, i think he means he hit the rev limiter. op, time to learn when to shift! no need to be hitting the rev limiter on the street. theres no extra power there.

he said the head looked to be in good condition, wouldnt the valves be smashed if the timing belt broke?

If the engine will turn over, but not start, might be the fuel pump. They whine like a bitch when they are about to die, and that could have been the "fuel cut" you felt.

Was there any smoke out the exhaust?

nah I had tapped fuel cut (r3v limit whatever you want to call it). Ran fine for about 10 secs till I tryed to merge with traffic. In second gear accelerating.

the engine wont turn over, I pulled the starter out to take a look at it. It looks cherry. gonna pull the oil pan and take a look at what I see.

Have you even tried to turn the engine over by hand?

Nothing you would see unless you pulled the head off. There are so many variables...yeah, you could have broken a rocker, or not. Definitely would have banged a piston, incredibly likely to bend a valve, but none of that would be visible until the head was off...or not.

Since the OP obviously doesn't have much experience, it may not be visible to him as of yet.

The first action should be to try to rotate the engine with a wrench on the front crank pulley. If you can rotate the engine, the battery could be dead or there could be a problem with the starter. Finding out why the starter doesn't work would be the next step.

If you can't rotate the engine, it has suffered some sort of internal failure. You'll have to pull the engine and tear it down to find out what the damage is. But before doing that I'd drain the oil and check to see if has a metallic shine, which would be evidence of bearing failure.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

when my old vert snapped the tbelt, you could see where it mashed the valves up and broke the rockers without taking the head off.

Sure, yours did, but others haven't.
