    Acting like eta?

I installed a new rotor an hour ago, let the car warm up and took it for a quick drive. It had a VERY definate limit of just above 4000 which has never happened before, the part # on the box was correct, not sure about the rotor itself, but it did look different from the old one.

Is it possible that they sent a rotor for an eta, and would it cause the redline to drop? Does that even make the slightest bit of sense?

DUH edit, this is a 323i

I do believe it is. The old one has bosch and part #s on it, new on is much worse quality, rough edges, no name on it etc.

The receipt from pelican parts says it's a genuine bmw oem euro rotor and I have emails saying they were having to get it from germany.

          Photos, new on left.

          Poor quality.

did it have this "rev limiting" effect with the old cap and rotor?? if not, I would swap back to the old units, and see if the problem resolves itself. The parts could possibly be out of tolerance, and when the spark advances, it doesnt have the juice to jump a larger gap. always start troubleshooting a problem with recently installed parts, if there is an issue IMMEDIATELY following the install of said parts. it will save a lot of chasing your tail on things that arent broke.
I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

Sure did, in a box labeled "made in germany".

Sent an email to pelican with photo.

Hah, yea just installed the old one and it revs freely to redline now.

Sent them an email, called them, send them a message and filed a report with the BBB, time to see if anything comes of all that.

                        BBB? that's a little extreame

if you are dissatisified with a part (and you rightfuly are), call them and tell them

I got the wrong part from them once, they were very accomidating and got me the right one overnight

I did call them, told me there was no way it could be wrong because it came from germany and they didn't offer to send they correct part.

Shipping me knockoff parts that aren't up to spec labeled as BMW OEM seems like a good reason. And to think, I was getting ready to place a $1000 + dollar order with them for new bumpers, bumper trim, valance and other misc parts.

The most recent email. Time to make another phone call it seems.

Your complaint to the BBB is not warranted. You have basically accused us of lying to you and shipping an inferior / knockoff part. I have provided documentation that the part you ordered was shipped to us directly from BMW. I trust that this will resolve any concerns you have regarding our integrity.
