    Cam journals. Help!!!!

Ok so I sent, what I was told to be an m20b25 camshaft out to Ireland engineering for a FI regrind, and now they have called me back and informed me that I have sent them a cam with only 3-4 oil journals. I called the person I got the cam from and they said they are pretty much positive that it came out of a 90 325i. So I looked outside at the camshaft that I pulled out of my I motor and It only has three journals in the shaft, although the head appears to have 7 journal holes. I am utterly confused. Apparently the early 87 I motors may have only had 3 whereas the later date motors has 7. I need to know whether or not to tell IE to grind the cam I have given them or to just send it back and I will forgo getting the regrind and use a stock cam.

the cam that came out of my 885 head has journal groves cut out on each end right after the shaft seal area and one in the center between cylinders 3 and 4.

Help would be greatly appreciated! I want to try and call IE back tonight to tell them what to do.

    it's a seta camshaft

all B25s have a 7 bearing cam marked with a "K". the last year of the eta also has an 885 head, but only a 3 bearing cam.

my second bit of advice is, you're better off getting a brand new stock cam than a regrind IMO

I think that is what I shall be doing... Do you happen to know how much of a difference there would have been with the FI grind?
