Thanks to your guys' help, I got it all taken care of Wed. afternoon. I ended up pulling the rail up and removing the first 2 injectors (on the forward end of the rail) to pull it up and over the coolant temp sensors.

I replaced the stock 14# injectors with some M50 17# injectors and only replaced the top o-rings. The injectors were supposedly serviced 20k miles ago so I assume the lower o-rings were replaced when the pintle caps were replaced. I did not want to risk breaking the pintle caps so I left the lower o-rings alone.

I put a bit of clean valvoline max-life (might help condition the old lower seals perhaps?, its all i had in the garage anyways so I used it) on the o-rings then put them in the manifold first THEN popped the rail on top. It was hard to trust that they were all on evenly/enough but I put it all back together. It has been about 50 miles and still no signs of leaks. I have the fire extinguisher handy just in case :P these M50 injectors are noisier than the stock ones. I dont imagine the sound will mellow out but no big deal if it doesnt.

does anyone know if this is something i can just pull off? this is on the driver side below the intake manifold. This plug is connected to the electronic unit that connects to the fuel injectors...

because that thing is in the way, i can't really get a good hold of the fuel rail...but i'm pulling at the end of it and it's not really coming off...

you give the round connector on bottom a quarter turn or so, if you have ever done the oxygen sensor, it is the same type of plug. The top half of the plug has a notch in it that fits into the metal bracket that is sandwiched between the top and bottom pieces. if the top piece rotates while trying to unscrew the bottom piece, try to push down on the top piece while rotating it so that it can fit back into the notch and stay still.

Be cautious when you get this harness separated. There is a rubber gasket that fits into the top part and a plastic ring that fits into the bottom piece (its completely ridiculous but the only way to describe it is that its kind of like the plastic ring on a gallon of milk), both of which can be lost easily.

that piece with the rubber boot partly removed should just pull right out of the metal bracket it is in. UNLESS that milk ring thinger is still screwed onto the bottom. feel for a threaded ring holding it on the bottom side.

Should pull straight up if i remember correctly.

You don't really need to pull the fuel rail out if you don't want to. I just did this job + a chip in about an hour and a half. Given, there were two people, one twisting the injectors out of the rail from one side and helf the fuel rail up with rag+ pry bar (gently).

i actually pulled the valve cover off to have more room to get the fuel rail out. the second i got the electronic wire rail that controls all the injectors out the way, it was easy as hell...but thanks to Sagaris, I got it off and was on my merry way....=) I'm gonna take some pics when i get time to how to do this job quickly
