first of all you shouldn't be trying to start it. sounds like there is more issues than a rod bearing, i would pull the motor and inspect the bottom end carefully. i highly recommend taking it to someone who knows what they are doing.

yea id advise you pull your head off look for broken stuff inside, then go buy a used motor and do nothing but put it in your car dont open it up, find one with less then 200k on it and you probaby wont do anything to it for quite a while

i would just stop and do some thinking first. its obvious you arent paying attention to these fine people, either that or you dont understand what they are saying.

Pull oil pan and check con rods, spun rod bearing....Stop guessing check compression on each cylinder
                  Good luck

dood start over, sell me your good m20b25 head, ill buy a new rocker and valve. and you can go honnnnnnnnnnnddddaa-a-aa-a-a-a
sorry to be brash, you snapped your timing belt on a interference engine, blew it to shit, then tried cranking it...no good,, thats whats this snap pop bullshit sounds like..
You need to not try and fix yourself, or get a set of telescoping gauges, micrometer, do cylinder out of round, taper, etc., check mains, big ends, connecting rod straightness, length, width, pistons, valve seats, etc..
I'm boring myself... you put wong head mista mista
marbles? ps. m20 no have roller bearing inside engine... weirdo

so i pulled my head off and theres no damage to pistons or head, thank god, and i did not snap my timing, so will go ahead with 2.5 head repair and replacement, then do rod bearings, thanks to everyone for the help
