    Proper M20 Swap Info????

I've been on this site for a long while and looking for a definitive source for step by step process for swap procedure and have been coming up empty handed. I'm have a 91 318 with a m20b27 swap that is not currently running and just wanted to see what was needed in order to do the swap as in what wires were changed and what needed to do what. If anyone has any info or a place for me to start searching please let me know. thanks!

Other then bolting everything m20 in, I think if you get a 325i engine harness you should
be able to also bolt that in.

This is just me thinking out loud.

              step 1.

              remove m42+pcm

              2. install m20 and correct pcm

the only issues i could see would be with coolant tube routing. but since people swap m42 radiators into their m20s, i guess you wouldnt have a problem there.

its simple in theory. its just going to take a few days.

                a m20b25 harness, also know as a 325-i- or 325-is- harness will not fit a m20b27, known as a 325-e- or 325-es-.
You need to go to a scrap yard and buy a full 325e or es car, or sell me your poor 318 quasymodo 325 beast-slow-weird baby thingy car, and i'll do the swap, right into my ES.

I did a Eta to IS swap about a year ago and other then the harness you will need the cooling parts, water pump, timing belt, tensioner, oil cooler and housing, brackets for the cooler, any AC components/pullies, and steering pump for the rack.

I could be wrong on some of these components but I know for a fact that all your cooling hoses will be all bass-akwards cuz the radiator setup is all different from the two motors. A complete harness and ECU are must haves for that swap to even come close to working. You may also want to invest in a new cluster as your old one will not work with that ecu/ignition coil on the M20 motor.
And on top of that your tranny is the wrong one as well huh? You have a G240 and the M20 uses the G260. Hell I dont even know if those will even bolt up.

Anyway. Good luck with that one. I think E30QC may be right when he says go buy another 325e from a scrap yard. would probably be cheaper in the long run.

I'm talking about a m42 to m20b27. the car is swapped but wires are all over the place and would like to do it the right way. any input. the wires connected to the dme have 2 splices to it and the c101 plug has shit randomly shoved into it. its a complete mess.
