Peake fault code 16 idle speed actuator (close)

I got this code with the peake code reader.

My question is, what is idle speed acuator(cloe)? What things should I check. I would think the ICV, or the TPS but Ive checked them both, though I could have messed up when I was checking the TPS. But Im pretty sure the ICV is good as it buzz'z.

From reading up a bit, Ive gathered that I can get that code if the car stalls from a bad idle, so thats pretty broad. Thanks for any help, this is my first time using this tool.

Clear the code (disconnect the battery for 30 seconds) and see it it re-occurs when the engine hasn't stalled. If it does, either the ICV is bad or there's a problem in the engine wiring harness.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Ok...
I cleared the codes, than pulled the new ones.

No codes AT ALL. I can start it and it stalls immidiatly, I can keep it running with a bit of throttle but it revs faster than Im actually opening the TB. The ICV buzz's and even vibrates a bit.

But after I started the car and it stalled, it threw code 16 again. idle speed actuator (closed)

I just took the ICV out and cleaned it, I believe it to be a good unit.

But interstingly enough, I unplugged the AFM and the car would run and idle, it wouldnt run very smootly but it would run.

Anybody have any idea what my problem could be? Thanks

Intake leaks... Have a smoke test run.

HOW many posts do you have on here? and you ask JLevie a question like that?!!!

Im thinking... do you know what YOUR doing?? or saying...

Kinda laffin my ass off too, but you really ought to pay attention to who inputs the most reliable information and those that tend to pop off BS. If I say it...well.. it wont be total BS but I can be wrong.

If JLevie says it, I would take it as fairly authoritative and reliable.

Make sure the idle switch is closing on the TPS, otherwise the ICV won't know to open up and let air through to control the idle speed. You should hear a small click when you move the throttle off the stop, and a second click at full open when the WOT switch closes.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

                    Thanks Matt...

next time I get around to working on it, Im taking the entire intake side back apart. Checking the harness to the injectors, checking the TPS, checking for intake leaks, and a bunch of other stuff. I have a feeling I have a few different problems...

Im sorry I have a similar problem and took apart my ICV, MAF, and intake boot to check for leaks/functions correctly, and I found nothing before I installed my after market chip my car idled fine...so my mechanic told me to replace the chip with the original. I havent done this yet but he also told me to tighten the throttle .5 turn to see if that helps with my surging idle I have when in drive at stop signs/lights. I dont know what a TPS is or where its located so could some1 point me in the right direction before I take my ecu out and accept a faulty chip. Thanks

Its located under the T-body, held on by 2 Philips head screws. Has a wiring harness ran to it, you cant miss it.

                            3. Post count means you have been involved, even if you are a jackass.

How about a quick apology to one of the very few members who actually go out of their way to help newbies AND "experienced" guys like youself...seem like a good idea?
